Explore the emotional and psychological development of children and young people and learn new approaches for those needing additional support.
Description
This programme develops core skills in understanding the emotional and psychological development of children and young people and provides insight into effective approaches to identify those in need of additional support. It also develops staff skills in building secure relationships that promote resilience and emotional regulation.
The training is structured over four modules and can be delivered as an Ofqual regulated qualification or as a CPD event.

Structure and content:
- Understanding the wider therapeutic framework
This module focuses on understanding the purpose of therapy, reflects upon a variety of therapeutic roles, outlines the therapeutic models of Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Person Centred approaches.
- Basic Therapeutic Skills
This practical module focuses on the three ‘core concepts’, understanding and practicing the language of empathy, listening & communication skills.
- The Formation of Identity & Personality
In this module participants will explore the key factors involved with the psychosocial formation of personality and key messages that promote resilience.
- Self-Regulation & Distress Management
In this unit participants will explore how self-regulation is crucial to healthy brain development and learn strategies to support the development of self-regulation.
